this album just plain sucks |
From: elvincb | Engagement: June 2, 2001 at 19:14 |
beck is mistaken. this is a peachy southern stone album ala Circus of Power. one sad annotation: they released a promo disc for BOTH west/ some "alive in the studio" tracks. i of those tracks was called 'suicide saloon' and it has to be one of the best tracks the band recorded. had they included this rails on the anthology & given it only a tiny footling push things may have been dissimilar for this underrated band. their 2nd disc 'pigs' is absurd too. become 'em if ya find 'em! |
From: Kim | Date: June 26, 2001 at 0:09 |
This album does NOT suck, its great and Jefferies has ane of the best voices in the genre. He is now with the band Alligator Stew, theyre as well fantastic, a chip more than like a southern rock band though, check them out at MP3.com |

Only the tracks Soul Survive and Tuesday's Rain makes it amend than a lot of cds i've heard. (The rest of the album is very good too ) |

I knew these guys in Fifty.A. before they got signed, saw them in the clubs and on the streets. They were always cool and they e'er kicked ass. The band is skillful and Gary is a dandy singer and a cool dude too. Can't wait to hear new stuff from the real Asphalt Ballet. Information technology'due south been too long. |

I bought this 'cause of "Soul Survive" I tin can't say I was disappointed, but I all the same like that 1 the best. Good overall album, solid production and the band plays like they mean it. |
From: purrfect-kat | Date: September xvi, 2002 at 11:21 |
I was but curious . . . Did this band e'er call themselves Spando Ballet? |
From: MIKE S | Engagement: April xxx, 2003 at 4:05 |
You're thinking of Spandau Ballet, kat. And no, that is a different band. "Hells Kitchen"on this LP is i kickass tune!! Strange, I count 18 posts on this release here, simply 129 ratings that put this at only over a 1??? While far from spectacular, this is MUCH meliorate than that number would suggest! |
From: TIM | Engagement: April 30, 2003 at 6:36 |
It's similar that all over the place Mike South. That's why Dan clears the board every so ofttimes. |
From: Rex James | Date: May 6, 2003 at one:35 |
Wasted talent. These guys were from L.A. and we got this weak southern-metal crap. They should take stuck with straight foward heavy metal. Later track 3 nearly of the songs go downward the bleed. If you want to hear southern-metal done correct check out Dangerous Toys or Every Mother's Nightmare. |

I remember seeing these guys on 'Star Search, they did a absurd performance of 'Wasted Time'and ended up losing to a lousy country band called 'Lilliputian Texas'.These guys never did get their due.A really cool hard stone band with a kick-ass vocalizer is how id describe them. This is the'Asphalt Ballet'record to own . |
From: TheRipper | Appointment: December 25, 2003 at 21:24 |
Put uncomplicated, Kick Ass strip band and release hither. Often would see flyers of these guys and idea they'd practice A LOT once they got signed... They got signed, simply didn't have over the world, simply this should have done more I think. Essential Cult Hard Stone disc. 'Hell's Kitchen', 'Soul Survive', 'Tuesday's Rain', etc, Killer tunes! |

Its actually cool to see all the slap-up comments virtually my ring Asphalt Ballet. It was a very commited difficult rockin ,down to earth ass kickin band hard workin band. The band didnt get the off-white shake, like a LOT of bands. When I was touring you couldnt even detect my record in the stores.I loved this band, information technology had not only the greatest musicians, but what incredible songwriters. Great task Gary! "Soul Survive" still kicks my ass to this 24-hour interval! Any thoughts on a reunion? Seems similar it's the thing to do these days. McQueen Street just released a killer disc subsequently 13 years or so... |
From: drummerfish | Date: February 16, 2004 at 3:24 |
cool cd.its the kinda a disc that you accept to be into obscure/one off former schoolhouse hard stone bands to appreciate.wish the 2nd cd was equally proficient as this.simply they did get rid of the singer after this so their had to be some sufferage.i hear there's a live promo cd from this bout.must be a good listen.i'd like to see this re-released. |

I absolutely honey Asphalt Ballet (particularly this CD)! I heard the song Soul Survive on the onetime Pirate Radio 100.3 in the LA expanse back in late 1991 and only had to accept the CD. This CD to this mean solar day is still one of my favorites. |

Bought this for $7.98 at a used C.D. store. The first mind didn't really print me, simply after a 2nd heed on a better stereo system I think the money was well spent. I would put the music somewhere between hair band metal and bluesy hard rock, with some leanings toward Guns and Roses. Cipher terribly original but skillful music all the way through. How does their second C.D. compare to this i? |
From: Razz | Date: May 29, 2004 at 0:xiii |
Check out the film 'Beyond the Police force" with Charlie Sheen - most of the soundtrack is from this album ... when you see 200 Hogs rollin down the highway to "Soul Survive", you'll understand this album ... |
From: Dave | Appointment: August 5, 2004 at 16:58 |
Excellent Album. Hell's Kitchen has a awkward beginning only hits headbanger speed. Soul Survive is solid. Tuesday's Rain is a Beautiful & timeless Classic with a unique audio. Unluckey starts bad-mannered simply becomes fun & solid. Terminate of Rope is solid. Heaven Winds is classic but needs the soft levels brough up. Goodbye Yesterday & Taking a walk are excellent driving energy, Rest are solid. This band make frequent utilise of awkward starts only all tunes hit full free energy strides withing 15-20 seconds. |
From: FRATELLO | Engagement: August thirteen, 2004 at 11:xi |
These guys should have been huge! And they are! No matter how many copies of this fuckin' incredible album they have sold! Every song on this album is a killer. End Of My Rope, Tuesday Pelting and Soul Survive are goddamn classics. Sometimes they remind me of Aerosmith, sometimes they sound heavier, sometimes they sound almost like southern hard rock ring. And of course soulful Gary Jefferies' phonation is a central moment for this album and the band as a whole. Check out Gary'due south new ring Alligator Stew as well |
From: Andii Vamp | Engagement: Dec 12, 2004 at 22:01 |
I recollect buying this album many years ago, well.. when it outset came out and i lost information technology to an ex girlfriend who took a lot of my stuff lol. I recently managed to get ahold of this album again after all those years and it STILL kicks arse!! Hangman Swing is amazing! Highlights on this album for me were/are Hangman Swing, Taking A Walk, Do It All Over Over again and Hell's kitchen. Amazing band and an astonishing vocalist. These should have and i mean SHOULD have had a bigger proper name for themselves back in t |

From: Andii Vamp | Date: December xix, 2004 at iii:41 |
Hmm... Alleycat Scratch are a totally different kettle of fish if you ask me. I see no resemblance whatsoever. Alleycat Scratch were an amazing sleaze/glam band though. Asphalt Ballet are zilch like that. |
From: Dean | Date: December 19, 2004 at 14:22 |
The simply thing this has in common with Alleycat is they both showtime with A. Alleycat was awesome sleaze this one is more than bluesy and i just could not get into it. |
From: TIM | Date: December 19, 2004 at 17:39 |
This is fashion better than Alleycat Scratch. I'm non into the punk groups that lack assurance sound. |
From: Andii Vamp | Date: December 21, 2004 at 3:43 |
Oh come on Tim.. Alleycat were a practiced band for the manner they did and that is in no manner a pop mate haha. I'm only a large glam fan lol! This album smokes though, loved it. |

WHAT A CD ITS And then GOOD. HEY ANDII VAMP ARE You lot THE GUY WHO HAS A Ring AND A SITE? |
From: Geoff | Date: March 22, 2005 at v:28 |
I take to agree with a few of the above that I much adopt Alleycat Scratch to this disc and admit I was a little disappointed with this one. Searched for it for quite a while after hearing a few tracks on some Charlie Sheen biker movie. 'Tuesday's rain' was a fave of mine but I don't similar the vocals and information technology was not every bit hard rocking as I idea it'd be and as the name suggests. Skillful hard rock disc, but not great IMO. |
From: TIM | Engagement: March 22, 2005 at eight:11 |
Why is a stone band existence compared to a glam band? This kicks Alleycat's donkey IMO. Either way, they are not the same genre. |
From: irene | Date: April 27, 2005 at fourteen:47 |
i live in norway and hither allmoast nobody has eaven heard off them, and it`due south no one selling the allbuns here! i got to get them from an other country !!! just it`due south the best band in the earth!!! and I really lov good bye yesterday.... |

Nearly xv years later and Soul Survive is STILL my all time favorite song. It's a shame this ring died before information technology'due south time. MY SOUL SURVIVES...FOREVER! |
From: AOR freaky | Date: July 29, 2005 at xv:32 |
Indeed, some fine moments on this tape ! Not exactly a great record, but worth buying if you even so don't have information technology in your collection. |
From: aMetalhead1966 | Date: January 9, 2006 at fourteen:08 |
This 1 takes a while to sink in...Not southern stone,I'd say more blooze/dejection hard rock...Skillful playin and songs...it came at the wrong fourth dimension... |
From: speed demon | Appointment: March 29, 2006 at 23:48 |
Above average bluish collar hard stone band. Some good info on the guys from Metallic T's comments above. I enjoy this disc and take information technology in my collection and would recommend it for yours! |
From: headbanger4life | Date: May 18, 2006 at 5:31 |
Soul Survive is a fantastic rail. These remind of a mix of Slip Row, Guns North' Roses and Dangerous Toys all mixed into i. I never heard of these guys when they came out and picked this up subsequently a lot of hype that I heard most them. Information technology's not my favorite merely it'due south yet a decent release. |

From: rockhardrock | Appointment: March 23, 2007 at 11:09 |
bikers would love that one for sure!Gary has awsome voice."soul survive"has a cracking chorus and superb rhythm."tuesdays pelting"is adept melodic rok song and "unlucky mr.luck"kicks ass.just like tuesdays rain "goodbye yesterday" has very good melody. They take also great ballad on this record "wasted fourth dimension" which is every bit good as any other rock ballad that became famous-also bad that this one didnt.Anyhow that tape is one of the best stone albums released in early 90s. |
From: MHR | Date: October xvi, 2009 at 6:51 |
I similar this! This is really Stone!!! |
From: happy2849 | Date: Dec 12, 2010 at eleven:40 |
There 1st and their best. Hard stone the manner it was supposed to exist played. I agreed with near "Soul Sursive" is a cracking track merely there are other worth hearing. |
From: Doghouse Reilly | Date: February x, 2011 at 23:53 |
The harder, more straightforward songs remind me of Hair of the Dog's debut, oddly, with a very like production sound and emphasis on riffs and grooves. In other bplaces, they practise the L.A.-band-playing-southern-rock affair also washed by the likes of Sister Whiskey, Graveyard Train, Iv Horsemen and others. Of course, Gary Jeffries showed up in the awesome Alligator Stew years afterwards, and the more bluesy songs on Asphalt Ballet's first disc could be metallic'ed-up Stew songs. Gary's vocalization is raspier hither (sometimes sounds like he'due south trying a little too difficult), only the songs are still tricky and melodic. Favorites would be the single "Soul Survive," the lighter "Good day to Yesterday" and the swaggering jams of "Hangman Swing" and "Bluish Movie." |
From: rick kerch vzla | Engagement: April 15, 2013 at 16:41 |
Different points of view about this band and anthology...for me it's a absurd release with that touch of hard rock/southern rock in the songs(harmonica, even some saxophone here and there),vocally talking,Gary Jefferies does it quite good ...my faves are "Hell's Kitchen","Soul Survivor","Stop Of My Rope","Heaven Winds Accident"(skilful southern!),"Blood On The Highway" & "Taking A Walk"(cool)...84/100 |

Another total ignored Masterpiece of Skillful Music from the 90's,information technology's a shame ,songs like Soul Survive,Tuesday'south Rain or Heaven Winds Accident a monster hits, not a bad vocal on this record here, this is hard stone with a southern/sleaze bear on in perfection |
